How to Kill Productivity

How to Kill Productivity in Five Easy Steps

Review your Twitter as you do often during the day.

Reply to an agent who you follow when she asks for feedback on whether saying “it was a close call but no thank you” was cruel or encouraging.

Suggest that it would be crushing at first, but over time would become exciting and encouraging.

Follow said response with a joke of “unless it’s me, in which case you should say ‘Yes, more please.’”

Check your email obsessively to see whether or not it really was you.

Wife is out of town and it's a Friday. I decide to walk across Boston Common to the AMC and see "Unstoppable"*.

The movie ends and I pull out my phone to see if my wife has send me word on her performance (she's performing** in New Brunswick this weekend).

I see a reply to my sample chapters. Seriously? It was me? Is that meant to be some kind of cosmic humor? I got a free half of an English muffin this morning and declared it was going to be a good day and now this!***

…well yes, I suppose I should actually open it and read it.

Why yes I will send you the full manuscript!!!!

    SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

**She sings competitive a capella barbershop.

***This all took place in about 1/8 of a second.

****Can you tell the superscript tag doesn't work in responses? ๐Ÿ™‚

*****Thanks for your comment, Jennifer. Welcome!
